Steps to Setup Your Website
STEP-BY-STEP GUIDES
- Adding a domain to host with us: Login to your Hosting Control Panel (CP) and select Domains. Select "Add New Domain". On the next page select "Transfer an existing domain". Enter the domain you want to host with us. Selecting this option does not transfer your domain to us. It just sets up the website on our servers so that it can be hosted by us when you point its name servers to us.
- Fine tuning your website: From CP home page,
select Web Options. On the next page, select the domain
for which you want to activate various web options like
SSL, Directory Indexes, AWStats etc. Activate various
options as per your need. Most important of these options
is Directory Indexes. After turning it on your can enter
your website's default page.
- Mailboxes and Send/Receive E-mail: From CP home
page, select E-mail to create mail boxes, assigning mailbox
size, activating spam and anti-virus features etc. You
can send/receive your e-mail from:
- POP mail program like Outlook Express:
- POP/SMTP Server: mail.yourdomain.com
- Username: mailID@yourdomain.com
- Password: Password that you entered while creating
your mailbox.
- WebMail: We provide three webmail clients for you
to send/receive/manage your e-mail. These are SQWebMail,
Squirrelmail and Horde. You can use any by visiting
http://mail.yourdomain.com or http://mail.m2-server.com.
- Uploading website Files: You can upload your
website files using File Manager in your CP or by using
any FTP client like SmartFTP, CuteFTP etc. Always upload
your files in the domain folder. MS Access database should
be kept in root directory. This will prevent anyone to
download these files via HTTP.
- Testing your website: You can view your website
before it is actually resolving to our servers via the
Instant domain name alias feature. Click on Web Options
and then your domain name. You'll see this feature towards
the end of the page.
- Changing Domain Name Servers (DNS): In order
for your website to work from m2-server servers, it is
necessary to change the DNS settings of the domain to
point to our name servers. This must be done at your domain
registrar. You can find the current domain registrar of
your domain by visiting WHOIS.
In order to change DNS settings, you need to login to
your Domain Registrar's Control Panel and look for the
section on changing Name Servers. You are not required
to change DNS if you have registered your domain at m2-server
from http://products.m2-server.com.
- Creating your own Domain Name Servers: You can
create your domain name servers to host your sites with
m2-server. It is required only when you do not want to
reveal that you host your website with m2-server. In such
cases, you could create your own domain name servers pointing
to our name server IPs. You can use m2-server's domain
services (by registering your domain at http://products.m2-server.com)
for creating your own name servers. If your domain is
registered with us, simply go to "Child Name Servers"
to create your name servers.
